LIVING MOMENTS OF AWARENESS Door
May Be Open!
Houdini, the great magician and escape artist could free himself from any
handcuff or straight- jacket. Jails could not confine him; he just unlocked
the lock and walked out a free man. Throughout the world he baffled the
police of every nation; but in England one jail warden got the better of
him.
Houdini had accepted a wager to free himself from a cell in a little jail.
It seemed like child’s play compared to the difficult tasks he had
accomplished in America by escaping from the most securely locked cell in
State prisons. Yet he worked for two hours at the lock of this small British
prison cell without success. He worked with terrific speed and skill which
usually unlocked doors in 30 seconds. But here he sweated and fretted, but
he could not get the lock to spring.
Finally, in utter exhaustion, tried out by his strenuous efforts, he leaned
against the door for some rest. To his great surprise, the door swung open —
it had never been locked!
Life is like that. We build up in our minds barriers which do not exist. We
see obstacles where there are none. We lock ourselves in the jail of
failures, of doubts and fears that live only in our imagination. We have
stopped trying because we think it is not useful. If instead of sitting down
and giving up, we would just lean against the door, may be it would swing
open too. – Courtesy: Wisdom
